Shannon Moore, Ph.D

Licensed Psychologist, PSY33838

Have you been feeling overwhelmed? Are you struggling to control worry or avoiding gatherings that are important to you because you’re afraid something bad will happen? I have a particular interest in helping people with significant worry, panic, social anxiety, and obsessions and compulsions. By talking about your fears and facing them gradually, I can help you to reengage with life in a healthy way. Are you going through a major life transition, like graduating from college, heading into retirement, or dealing with a disabling health condition? Maybe you’re struggling to come to terms with aging. I also specialize in helping people cope with the emotions that come with change and find ways of adapting in a way that is in line with their values. Regardless of your concern, I am here to bear witness to what you’re experiencing and work together to promote progress and inner peace.

My approach
I provide evidence-based and tailored care using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and acceptance and mindfulness-based approaches. I aim to understand how you think about yourself and the world and cope with everyday challenges. With this insight, I help clients develop a more self-compassionate view of themselves and behave in ways that are in line with their values and goals.
Why I love this work
Psychology is the study of the mind and human behavior, the most interesting field of study in my opinion! I have always been interested in better understanding myself and others and learning about methods of coping to support emotional well-being. In graduate school, I studied how factors like illness and socioeconomic status can affect our mental health, and I have taken those learning experiences with me into my practice.
What I want for you
Perhaps all that you know is that you want to feel better. I’ll help to clarify what that looks like for you. Maybe feeling better means having better self-esteem, changing how you react to stress, or how you relate to others. Correctly identifying your treatment goals allows us to ensure that we are on the right track.
My specialties, background, and personal interests

I specialize in utilizing CBT and exposure therapies to help those with significant anxiety and avoidance of every day activities, like social situations. I also specialize in addressing age-related concerns and distress related to health problems. I love living in sunny California but I am from the East Coast and love the seasons. I enjoy hiking, reading fiction, and spending time with my partner and twin sons.
