My approach

My style is collaborative and warm and can include a more direct approach when more guidance is welcomed. I take an integrative approach to therapy and tailor my approach to meet the unique needs and backgrounds of my clients. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and draw from different theories, like CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy). These approaches have been shown to be effective in helping individuals develop a more adaptive means of addressing and responding to hardships in their lives. My work also focuses on fostering clients’ existing strengths, maintaining a present focus, and addressing clients’ cultural identities and their physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.

Why I love this work

I appreciate the opportunity to create a connection and a trusting relationship with individuals and know the value of having someone to help you work through difficult transitions or changes in life or your journey to better yourself. I enjoy encouraging clients to discover their own resilience and potential for growth to achieve positive changes. My commitment is to support clients to create the best version of themselves and lead more authentic lives.

What I want for you

I hope to create a welcoming and supportive space where individuals can openly explore their struggles and develop practical tools to overcome these challenges and to better manage future stressors. Working together allows for the cultivation of different perspectives on clients’ challenges and more adaptive means for clients to regain stability and enjoy more fulfillment in their lives. I strive to help clients leave therapy with more insight into themselves and to feel confident and empowered to be their own agents of change.

My specialties, background, and personal interests

I have enjoyed working with a diverse community of children, adolescents, and adults from various ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds with a wide range of mental health and psychosocial concerns. My breadth of experience includes providing short- and long-term individual therapy, group therapy, and consultations in a variety of settings, including substance use treatment, residential treatment, community mental health, supportive housing, and hospitals. I also have several years of experience assisting individuals in receiving gender affirming procedures by providing gender affirming assessments and letters of support.

A few of my specialties are the psychological difficulties that coincide with medical conditions, life transitions, and cultural issues. I also have a strong interest in the unique concerns of women, POC (people of color), and the LGBTQ+ communities, including the development and intersection of these individuals’ identities, especially women of color and QTPOC (queer and trans POC) communities. I value diversity and welcome clients of all backgrounds. I believe in understanding individuals as whole persons, including all aspects of their identities and their impact on individuals’ experiences.

Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, reading, spending time with friends, exploring the outdoors, and watching live performances. I am also an animal lover, sports fan, and art admirer.
