Daniel Segundo, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW108504

Many of my clients are navigating changes they didn’t expect – a recent loss, a breakup, a new role, or simply a shift in how they see themselves. These changes may evoke certain feelings, thoughts, or behaviors that clients may wish to change. Chances are these symptoms are a normal human response to external stressors, AND you intentionally or unintentionally learned ways to manage these symptoms that might not be helpful to your healing process. My ideal client is someone open to exploring how their presenting symptoms may be rooted in their past experiences. My focus is to collaboratively explore these deeper concerns and work toward meaningful, lasting understanding with my clients, guided by their strengths, values, and goals.

My approach
My approach to care is holding a cultural lens to healing while being strengths-based. This means I want to center your upbringing, your roots, and honor your strengths while in therapy. I draw from a variety of evidence-based modalities – cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, trauma-informed care, play therapy, attachment theory, and mindfulness-based practices, to meet your therapeutic goals. Together, we’ll explore how past experiences and relationships may have shaped your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to survive and exist in today’s world. Our time together won’t be focused on examining what’s wrong with you, but on exploring what happened to you. How did you get here? I strive to create a space that is compassionate and understanding of your experience – a space where you can slow down, reconnect with yourself, and we can contextualize your life experiences to guide your healing process.
Why I love this work
I am a second-generation child of immigrants, a Cuban-American Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I recognize we all have a life story that contextualizes so much behind who we are, what we do, and how we respond to life. I regard this work with much love due to the honor and joy it brings in being able to witness and reflect upon a client’s life story.
What I want for you
The best predictor of clients reaching their goals is based on a therapeutic bond and alliance. Hence, therapy works best when it’s guided by what’s most important to you. My approach to therapy is relational and grounded in the belief that healing happens through that therapeutic connection. I strive to create a safe, collaborative space where we can explore your story, name your strengths, and work toward the goals that matter most to you at your own pace. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed or simply seeking support during a difficult moment, I’m here to guide you.
My specialties, background, and personal interests

For most of my professional career I’ve worked in community mental health settings supporting children, adolescents, and adults navigating concerns related to life transitions, trauma responsive-care, cultural differences, relational issues, and stress management. As a therapist I’ve provided individual, group and family therapy. As a mental health consultant I have provided grief and loss healing support, trainings and consultations to schools and community centers. Working in and with community has been such a gift for me – I have learned so much from many folks who I hold with deep admiration and respect. I would not be who I am today without those relationships. In my personal time, I enjoy any activity that brings people together – movies, food, and music are a few that come to mind. I also really enjoy being outside. This might look like taking in the warm sunlight, being close to a large body of water, and learning more about the plants and trees that I share spaces with.
