Though trained as a clinical psychologist, I’ve spent the last 20 plus years working as a communications consultant, talking with diverse groups of people on behalf of a wide range of organizations from movie studios to non-profit groups. It’s been my privilege to be welcomed into people’s homes to learn what they think about profound issues like raising children or caring for disabled family members, to the more mundane like what they watch on TV and why. Along the way, I’ve been able to offer my services as a communications specialist, pro bono to organizations like AIDS Project Los Angeles, the Veterans Administration, the Westside Family Health Center and Transitional Housing Outreach. As dynamic and rewarding as this work is, I wanted to return to my first professional interest – being a therapist. The thru line from my previous career is I continue to work with diverse individuals from different cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, genders and sexual orientations. Along these lines, I understand the unique concerns of POC (people of color), and the LGBTQ+ communities, including how the different strands of identity interact. Whatever time and energy I have left over after spending time with my 17-year-old son, I enjoy gardening, baking and keeping up with family and friends.
