Megan Bakva, ASW

Associate Clinical Social Worker
Supervised by Felice de la Cerna, PSY29246, ASW114126

My clients are young adults – Millennial and Gen-Z individuals age 16+ – from all backgrounds and identities. Specifically, I specialize in serving LGBTQ+, highly-sensitive, and creative or entrepreneurial individuals from collectivist families of origin. These individuals may struggle with creating meaning and fulfillment, stepping into their sovereignty, and honoring their truth in their adult lives. They are looking to create deeper meaning, greater peace, and more fulfillment within their identity, career, and relationships, including their relationship with themselves.

My approach

My approach is holistic and integrated. My intention is to create a safe and warm space for you to fully land – body, mind, and soul. I meet you where you’re at in your healing journey on any given day by weaving together elements of cognitive, somatic, and yogic approaches within each session. I use my compassion, humility, and humor to offer reflections and inquiries that help you access your intuition and reclaim your power. You will gain the insights and tools you need to catalyze sustainable, long-lasting change in your life.

Why I love this work

I love this work because I believe that all beings are inherently deserving of a life of meaning, peace, and fulfillment. I feel greatly honored to witness my clients’ vulnerability and as we explore how early childhood wounds, core beliefs, and patterned behavior have influenced their current reality. I’m inspired by their perseverance in showing up for themselves with energy and compassion to make meaningful change.

What I want for you

My vision for you is to develop greater reverence for who you are: your strengths, values, gifts, and opportunities. From this self-awareness and compassion, I want you to gain greater attunement so that you recognize when you’re out of alignment with yourself and can utilize tools and integrate systems that bring you back home to your self. Over time, my wish is that you stray from your true self less and less and find true harmony within all areas of your life.

My specialties, background, and personal interests

Before becoming a therapist, I spent almost a decade producing marketing campaigns for brands. I deeply understand corporate, creative, and tech environments and the pressure that many young people feel within them to honor their passion while also building their financial independence and autonomy.

I’m interested in the intersection of the scientific and mystical elements of life and integrate many eastern and western wellness practices into my day-to-day routine.

When I’m not connecting with clients or practicing emerging healing modalities, I spend time with my rescue dog, Rumi (mostly called Roo or Rufus), I read everything from psychology and wellness to sci-fi and fantasy books, go to Yoga and Pilates classes, and love an iced espresso drink… or two.
