My approach

My style of working is warm, thoughtful and direct. I am committed to helping people discover and enhance their emotional capacity in order to live more satisfying lives. I like to incorporate ideas from various techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Narrative Therapy although I like to tailor my approaches to each client’s goals and values. My style in therapy tends to be solution focused while being present with authenticity, empathy and humor.

Why I love this work

I truly respect and am sensitive to the unique experiences that each and every one of us bring to this world and the relationships we engage in. I believe that everyone deserves a voice and to be heard unconditionally to their stories; I feel honored to be that person to help someone in reaching their full potential and be the best version of themselves.

What I want for you

I understand how difficult and uncomfortable it can be to consider talking about the most personal issues with someone; a therapist in this case. I like to genuinely acknowledge that big step a client takes in coming into the initial session. Creating a safe environment and trusting relationship are such important factors for me in therapy and I encourage my clients to openly share their stories. It can often be an eye-opening experience for my clients as we work together around widening their self awareness, facing their fears, creating new coping strategies and to test them out in between sessions and being witnesses to the outcomes from the amazing work they put in.

My specialties, background, and personal interests

My work in the mental health field started at an agency where I had the opportunity to provide therapy and crisis support for women in abusive relationships ,which often caused a number of issues such as depression, anxiety and PTSD. After my traineeship at the above agency, I served a younger population (adolescents) and their families at a non-profit organization in the East Bay both in the community and at a crisis stabilization unit. Many of my clients in the years I worked with them had trauma history, which manifested in many different forms including suicidality, identity issues and family conflicts. I have also worked as a case manager and outpatient therapist at Alameda County and currently work at Kaiser Permanente where I provide individual and group therapy as well as psychiatric evaluations in the Emergency Department. I have the privilege to lend a hand when many of my clients are in one of the most vulnerable and challenging time in their lives.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, listening to music from many different genres, checking out new restaurants, and shows/movies.
